How To Set Up A Website

Set up a website?

Generally, people prefer having their own websites. There’s many reasons for it; some like to have their own online presence, some don’t like to depend on just their Instagrams, Facebook pages, Pinterest or Twitter accounts.

Having your own website is much easier than you imagined. As you might know by now, there’s the conventional way (which I will talk about soon) and the ‘new‘ way (which I will also talk about soon).

The conventional way

This is a proven by decades of usage and millions of users. They were once too, like us, that is, beginners! Everybody went through their learning curves, trial and error, frustrations and joy of building their websites. Gosh!, the feeling of achievement and satisfaction when they did something right in their journeys to their own websites.

Firstly, go and register a domain name, for instance, or .net or .org or (many choices!). You should ideally pick a .com but there’s nothing wrong in selecting a different choice. Hang on, you might ask, What is a domain name?  Well, take a look up there at the top of the screen. See that part at the top of your browser window in the URL bar? It’s the part that starts with “http://” in the address bar. The second part of the URL is the domain. An example is You will soon discover the definition of an internet domain name and how a domain is used. Basically, this is the internet address that people can enter into their web browsers or send their emails to. Find reputable and established companies to register your domain as you want your website to be around for a long time. You can try Namecheap for instance. They have domains starting with $0.99 and less. If you can’t find your ideal domain name, you can use their Domain Name Search and easily find one that you like.

Secondly, find a hosting provider for your domain name and to create your site. You will need to select a host and a hosting plan, which is more like where your website actually lives. The type of hosting you choose will determine the type of server your online home is stored on. But the endless variety of possible uses for your online space calls for some careful planning when it comes to choosing the best hosting solution for you. The tools you decide to run will determine the most appropriate power, storage, and bandwidth options for your business.

At the simplest level, your internet presence is basically a computer that is always on and reliably connected to the network. This machine is called a server, and what it serves can be a website, email communications, a database, sales software, streaming media, or an online store. There are 3 tiers of server services which I won’t elaborate here as I don’t want to confuse you with technical stuff at this early stage. Because so many bloggers want the same basic things, a judicious host can save resources by cleverly pooling some of the engine and plugin functionality across several blogs. That is why for performance, reliability, and security, the most economical solution could be managed WordPress hosting such as EasyWP. The hosting company takes care of keeping the core code and the plugins up-to-date on their security patches and implementing performance-boosting caching architectures. All you have to do is produce that content.  EasyWP is the fast, affordable Managed WordPress Hosting solution for everyone. If you are a true beginner, I recommend that you use EasyWP (they even have a 30 Days of Free Trial) to save your precious hardware from being banged, thrown and stomped by you!

Thirdly, get a professsional businesss email address that matches the name of your domain name. If you’re running a business, you likely don’t want to use a Gmail or Hotmail address. Having an email address on your own domain name looks much more professional! Ideally, you can get it from your website builder or web hosting company, for instance Private Email Service. They sometimes offer free trial for two months. You can check their current best savings deals here.

Lastly but optionally, you can get a super low-cost VPN (Virtual Private Network) which is a fast, secure, and affordable way to protect your Internet freedom. Enjoy a fast and affordable VPN experience and secure all your devices, so you can work, stream and play games, and browse online without limitations.
